With the start of the new year, residents are cleaning up decorations and getting rid of trees that are beginning to dry and shed.

Below is information from each municipality in the Northeast San Antonio Metrocom area on how and when residents can dispose of trees.

Cibolo

Republic Services will have pick up services through Jan. 19 on regular services days.

Trees must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m., and any tree taller than seven feet must be cut in half.


Trees at the curb after Jan. 19 will need to be called in as a bulk pick-up. Questions about tree pickup can be directed to the Cibolo Utility Billing Office at 210-619-0090.

Live Oak

Live Oak residents can take their trees to a designated location across from the Municipal Pool and Clubhouse, 7901 Shin Oak Drive, Live Oak.

All tinsel, ornaments, hooks and other decorative items must be removed from the tree before dropping it off.


Through Jan. 29, trees will be accepted for mulching. Residents are also welcome to take any of the mulch from the pile.

Schertz

Republic Services will begin picking up Christmas trees during the week of Jan. 8 and go through Jan. 19.

Trees will be picked up only on the second service day for customers with twice-per-week service. Customers with once-per-week service will have their trees picked up on their regular service days.


Trees must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m., and trees taller than seven feet must be cut in half. Any trees at the curb after Jan. 19 would need to be called in as a bulk pick-up. Questions can be directed to the Schertz Utility Billing Office at 210-619-1100.

Selma

Republic Services will begin picking up trees on Jan. 11 and 18 in conjunction with the regular trash services on those dates.

Trees must be placed at the curb, and any trees taller than 7 feet must be cut in half. Any trees at the curb after the pickup dates would need to be called in as a bulk pick up.

Universal City

Through Jan. 12, Universal City residents can drop off their trees at containers located at the Universal City Public Works Yard, 265 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City.

All decorations and accessories must be removed from the tree before disposal.
