Applications for the Schertz Blue Santa Program opened on Oct. 7. This program helps Schertz residents in need of gift support for Christmas.

What you need to know

Applications for the program close on Nov. 15. According to the application, assistance is only given to those who have children 16 and younger, and attend a school within the city limits.

On Dec. 20, the Police Department will host Blue Santa Day, where families can bring children to meet Santa and pick up gifts. The event will be held from 4-6 p.m.

Applicants can be sent to Anna Kraft, community projects/public information officer for the Schertz Police Department, at [email protected].

Applications can also be dropped off at the Schertz Police Department, 400 Schertz Parkway Bldg 6., Schertz. Online applications can be found here.

What else?

For those who would like to contribute to the program, a Blue Santa Tree will be set up in the Police Department lobby.

Members of the community can pull a tag from the tree, which will have the general description of the child the gift would be for.

Tag pickup will be held Nov. 25 through Dec. 16, and the deadline to deliver unwrapped gifts is Dec. 16. Monetary and gift card donations will also be accepted, according to the city website.
