The Garden Ridge Police Department is hosting an active shooter emergency care course, which offers training on applying immediate lifesaving care, according to the city website.

The details

Due to the hands-on nature of the course, the openings are limited and registration is required.

The five-hour class will focus on assessing injuries, applying tourniquets, wound packaging, using hemostatic agents, and other skills to help bridge the gap between an incident and the arrival of trained medical personnel.

Training supplies will be provided to those accepted into the program, and a complimentary lunch will be served.

Those interested can register by calling 210-651-6441 or filling out the application online.
