July 11-27: Celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month
To celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month, the city of Schertz Parks and Recreation Department will host an event every Tuesday and Thursday evening beginning July 11.
Each event has free admission and is held at a different park in Schertz. Additional information can be found on the Schertz Parks and Recreation website.
- July 11: Twilight Yoga. 7:30-8:30 p.m. Heritage Oaks Park, 11700 Long Lead Parkway, Schertz
- July 13: Glow Party. 8-9 p.m. Rhine Valley Park, 9958 Mulhouse Drive, Schertz
- July 18: Pup-sicles in the Park. 6-7 p.m. Schertz Dog Park, 940 Community Circle Drive, Schertz
- July 20: Pickleball Play. 7-8 p.m. Pickrell Park, 703 Oak St., Schertz
- July 25: Field Day. 6:30-7:30 p.m. Ashley Park, 550 Ashley Park Circle, Schertz
- July 27: Foam Party. 6:30-7:30 p.m. Cypress Point Park, 5526 Cypress Point, Schertz
The city of Schertz Parks and Recreation hosts the Nature Discovery Series each month through November. This event encourages elementary-age children to explore, discover and ask questions to learn more about nature. While the program is designed for families with elementary-age children, older and younger siblings are welcome. Preregistration for the event is required, and parents who wish to stay with the children must register themselves.

As part of the city of Schertz’s Nature Education Program, an Owl Prowl will be held various times throughout the summer, inviting all ages to learn about birds at night. Guadalupe Master Naturalists will share knowledge on birds, plants and more during the nighttime walk. Preregistration for the event is encouraged but not required.
