The city of Schertz on Sept. 24 will host a Get Prepped Emergency Preparedness Block Party.

According to city staff, this event is part of National Preparedness month and focuses on preparing for disasters and emergency situations.

During the event, attendees can participate in emergency preparedness demonstrations and classes.

Sessions will include post-disaster first aid, securing your home after a disaster, fire safety in and around the home, and leveraging insurance post-disaster.

Schertz Animal Services will also be in attendance offering discounted adoption fees, microchipping and vaccinations.


The event runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and is free to attend at Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz.
