Two town hall events are scheduled on Oct. 14 and 19 to provide Cibolo residents the opportunity to learn more about the two bond propositions and the voter-approval tax ratification election on Nov. 5.

In a nutshell

The nearly $26 million in bonds are planned to support the construction of a new public safety facility and animal shelter.

City staff said the public safety facility will help reduce response times throughout the city and establish a presence in the southern portion of Cibolo.

The shelter will help expand animal service capabilities and provide additional space for animal intakes.

The tax rate for fiscal year 2024-25 will also be on the ballot, asking voters to increase the property tax rate to $0.499 per $100 valuation to support the city budget. This would be an increase compared to the FY 2023-24 rate of $0.4699 per $100 valuation.

At a home value of $350,621—what city staff estimates to be the average home value in Cibolo—a homeowner would pay around $1,749 in annual taxes to the city should the VARTE pass.
