The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 7 election is Oct. 10. Those unsure of their registration status can visit the Texas Secretary of State website.

Registration applications and information can be found on the Bexar, Comal and Guadalupe county elections websites. Applications must be mailed or delivered in person to the appropriate voting center.

Voter registration eligibility laws require applicants to:
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a resident of the county where you submit the application
  • Be at least 17 years and 10 months old on the date the voter registration application is submitted, and 18 years of age on Election Day
  • Not be a convicted felon—you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation and parole
  • Have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
The election will feature state and local races and propositions. In Schertz, three City Council seats will be on the ballot, which will result in three new council members for the city. Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD has a contested race for the board of trustees.

Early voting begins Oct. 23 and runs through Nov. 3. Election Day is Nov. 7.
