Guadalupe County had three Republican candidates running for Precinct 4 Commissioner during the March 1 primary election.


The three candidates included Cibolo City Council Member Joel Hicks, current Precinct 4 Commissioner Judy Cope and life-long Guadalupe resident Stephen Germann.

After the reporting of the 35 polling locations across the county, Joel Hicks led the election with 1,499 votes, 41.41% of reported results.

Behind Hicks, Germann took 1,191 votes which amounted to 32.90% of the votes. Judy Cope took the remaining 25.69% or 930 votes reported by the county.



Hicks and Germann will move forward to the runoff election which is to be held on May 24. Precinct 4 residents can expect a new Commissioner in November.

As for the District Clerk position, Linda Balk took the lead with 9,193 votes, or 69.98%, and Shelly Saldivar-Sposari received 3,944 votes, or 30.02%.

In the County Clerk race, Teresa Kiel received 8,253 votes, or 62.70%, and Stacy A. Melton received the remaining 4,910 votes, or 37.30%.
