The Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year was approved during the Dec. 19 board of trustees meeting.

What parents should know

Passed unanimously by the board of trustees, the instructional calendar sets the school year’s first day as Aug. 14, 2025, and the end date at May 28, 2026. According to district documents, the decision for an earlier start date was made in light of the state-mandated requirement of 75,600 minutes of instruction per school year.

Notable changes include:
  • An earlier start date so the school year can end before June
  • Spring break will be held from March 9-13 so it aligns with Alamo Colleges schedule, ensuring students enrolled in dual-credit courses do not miss two weeks of instruction
  • Early release days will be Dec. 19 and May 28
According to district documents, the instructional calendar is created by the district instructional committee, which is composed of teachers, campus and district administrators, parents, community members and business representatives from within the community. The committee creates the calendar and offers its recommendation to the board of trustees, who decide on the instructional calendar during a board meeting.
