The Alamo Colleges District is working with VIA Metropolitan Transit to bring VIA services to Northeast Lakeview College.

The Live Oak City Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the college April 30.

The details

About two years ago, VIA launched a service called VIA Link, which created four regions around San Antonio where van service would be available, according to the VIA website.

Northeast Lakeview College is located near two of the service areas, and is working with VIA to extend the VIA Link service to the college.

According to the April 30 presentation, the service would have two drop off locations on the Northeast Lakeview Campus with one at Paluxy Hall and the other at Kruse Circle.

Northeast Lakeview College President Veronica Garcia said if the service is approved, it will be free to students and staff.

Live Oak City Council unanimously supported the memorandum of understanding for the service.

What’s next

The VIA board of trustees will be briefed on the proposal on May 24, and action on the item is expected on June 25.

Should the service be approved for Northeast Lakeview College, students and staff will have access to VIA Link beginning Aug. 19, according to the presentation.
