Paige Meloni was named the lone finalist for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD superintendent position.

The details

During a Dec. 12 called meeting, the board of trustees voted to name Paige Meloni as the lone finalist with five board members in approval and two members against the motion. Amy Thomas and Margaret Carlin voted against the motion.

“Despite my difference of opinion, I will stand behind the will of the board, and Ms. Meloni has my 100% support," Thomas said. "I look forward to what she will bring to the district."

According to a Dec. 12 news release, Meloni formerly served administrative roles in the district from 2011 to 2019 including:
  • Principal of Wiederstein Elementary School
  • Executive director of student and academic services
  • Executive director of special programs, grants, research and development
  • Executive director of finance
Following her time at SCUCISD, Meloni moved to the Regional Education Service Center in San Antonio, ESC-20, as the chief financial officer for client business services, then became the CFO for Lewisville ISD, located northwest of Dallas.

“On behalf of my fellow school board members, we are ecstatic to have Mrs. Paige Meloni return to SCUCISD,” board President Ed Finley said in the release. “She was a top-notch educator in the classroom, an invaluable asset as an administrator to SCUC and now has achieved the distinction as a superb steward of taxpayer funds with her experience at ESC-20 and Lewisville ISD.”

What’s next?

With the announcement of the lone finalist, the board must wait 21 days before voting to hire Meloni to be the new superintendent for SCUCISD.

Meloni is slated to replace outgoing Superintendent Clark Ealy, who will be retiring Jan. 31. The board will vote to offer a contract to Meloni at a called meeting Jan. 9.
