Six candidates have been selected to be interviewed for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Superintendent position. One alternative candidate was also selected should one of the six selected candidates not make the scheduled interviews.

Interviews for the six candidates will be held Dec. 4-6. During the Nov. 27 meeting, each of the seven trustees selected three interview questions to ask the candidates.

The background

Superintendent Clark Ealy announced his retirement during a Sept. 12 called board of trustees meeting.

Following the announcement, the board of trustees selected Texas Association of School Boards Executive Search Services as the superintendent search firm.

With Ealy’s last day being Jan. 31, the board of trustees and TASB ESS created a timeline that would see the hiring of a new superintendent by the time Ealy retires.

What’s next?

Following the first round of interviews, the candidates will be narrowed down for a second round of interviews during the second week of December.

A lone finalist is planned to be selected Dec. 19. After selecting the lone finalist, the district must wait 21 days before voting to hire the candidate. The scheduled date for the vote to hire meeting is Jan. 10, according to TASB ESS.
