As a result of Superintendent Clark Ealy announcing his retirement Sept. 12, the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD board of trustees held a special meeting Sept. 26 to discuss the superintendent search process.

During the meeting, trustees discussed the options for the search process with the consensus being to do a direct-to-contract method.

This method will result in a shorter timeline by having the district enter a contract with a search firm following presentations for selected firms.

Six search firms were mentioned during the meeting:
  • Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates
  • Thompson and Horton LLP
  • JG Consulting
  • Ray and Associates
  • N2 Learning
  • TASB Executive Search Services
What’s next

District representatives will reach out to the firms with the goal of having presentations scheduled for Oct. 5 or 10. Search firms interested in working with the district will go through an interview process, which includes questions from the board.

Following the presentations, the board of trustees will have an action item selecting a search firm and beginning the search process. Ealy is set to retire at the end of January.
