This new tax rate will support the fiscal year 2023-24 budget, which the board of trustees approved in June.
What residents need to know
Under the new tax rate, a home that has an assessed value of $220,000 with the $40,000 homestead exemption will result in the homeowners paying an estimated $1,862 in taxes to Judson ISD.
On the November ballot, there is a proposition to increase the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000.
Should this item pass and go into effect on Jan. 1, homeowners will see a decrease in taxes paid. Tax rate values depend on assessed home value and other exemptions homeowners may qualify for.
In the general operating fund of the budget, the district is expected to have an estimated $239.7 in revenue and $253.12 in appropriations.
