According to JISD staff, Faulkner was the lone applicant for the position, which was left vacant following Shatonya King stepping down in July.
Faulkner is a JISD alumna who retired from teaching after 31 years in the field.
Since she is filling a vacant seat, Faulkner will serve the remainder of King’s term, which will end in May 2025.
Board President Jose Macias said he is “honored” to have Faulkner on the board due to her experience with District 2.
“I am very proud that Mrs. Faulkner is representing Kirby [Middle School],” Macias said. “Kirby has not had a physical representative in over 20 years.”
