Since May 2022, SA Tomorrow has been working with the community in the Rolling Oaks area of San Antonio to build a new comprehensive plan and vision for that part of the city.

Throughout the year, the group has hosted open house meetings where residents can learn more about the plan and provide feedback regarding some of the changes and improvements that would benefit the area.

According to the SA Tomorrow website, the purpose of the plan is to improve quality of life for San Antonio residents, guide growth and development that accommodates projected housing and employment increases, and to fulfill other Comprehensive Plan goals and policies through a community-based planning process.

To date, SA Tomorrow has had three open houses and has run multiple surveys online.

According to a July 13 release, the latest open house focused on feedback regarding:
  • Where future amenities and public space elements could go over the next five to 20 years for the entire plan area and within each identified focus area. This includes elements like enhanced street lighting, wayfinding signage, plazas, parks, pedestrian crossings, trailheads and more.
  • Mobility challenges and opportunities within the Rolling Oaks Area to help guide the conversation for future improvements as it relates to streetscape design and the intent of key corridors within the plan area.
  • Initial draft recommendations and strategies for land use, housing and economic development.
The goal is to have projects implemented within the Rolling Oaks Area over the next five to 20 years, as the plan serves as a long-term guide on the growth and development of the area.
