On June 3, contractors began laying a new park trail in Live Oak, which will connect the Vista Ridge subdivision/Rimwood Street to Avery Road.

City staff said this trail, named the Montonio Park Trail, will add an additional 1,600 linear feet of trails for residents to enjoy.

The cost for the Montonio Park Trail is $90,000 from the private land developer of the Vista Ridge subdivision and $10,000 from the city.

This trail project is part of the initiative to have trail systems running throughout the city and give residents the opportunity to walk or bike from one end of the city to the other.

Another upcoming trail for the area is set to begin construction, connecting Avery Road to Woodcrest Park. This $400,000 trail project will run alongside city drainage rights of way and complete the connection from the Vista Ridge Subdivision to Woodcrest Park.

A completion date for the project has not been announced.
