With upcoming winter weather advisories from the National Weather Service, all Judson ISD and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD schools and offices will be closed Jan. 20.

Other schools, day cares and learning centers around the area have also announced being closed and it is recommended that parents check school websites and social media for further updates.

The city of Schertz also sent out a notice reminding residents how to stay prepared and safe during freezing temperatures.

According to the notice, the city recommends that people keep warm and check on elderly family members and neighbors, bring pets inside to keep them safe and bring in any potted plants.

As for pipes, it is recommended that all outdoor pipes be covered and faucets allowed to drip to prevent freezing.

Updates on road and city conditions can be found on the city Facebook page.
