Hartman had the idea while working as a teacher with students who showed a decline in motor planning, or training their motor skills.
“I was an elementary [physical education] teacher working for Cornerstone Christian Schools,” she said. “I noticed a decline in our young students’ ability to coordinate motor planning. It was also correlating in the classroom with behavioral issues. So, I asked my principal to start a motor lab.”
The motor lab enabled Hartman to help students learn those skills, she said. Hartman said she then built upon the lab concept and offered classes and services in Cibolo.
Hartman began her business in 2019 as a mobile studio but then shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She opened a new studio in summer 2021 that offers classes for children and adults alike.
The studio offers children’s classes for social interaction, aerial yoga, gymnastics and dance. Each class of up to eight students is taught by a certified instructor.
“They come in, and they are mentored by a certified teacher—not just certified in their craft, but certified by the state of Texas as well,” she said. “We encourage and we build confidence.”
Adult classes include aerial yoga, fitness, date night or couples classes, and more. There are also parent nights out when children can be left at the studio for organized activities and supervision.
Hartman attributes her success to the team of professional instructors and the support of the community.
“We are a wellness sanctuary that is private and exclusive,” she said. “We have a small ratio compared to other studios, and we are a profit-sharing studio. My goal as a business owner is giving women, men, whoever, the opportunity to really shine their talents, because it takes a lot of energy.”
