In a nutshell
According to city documents, the traffic impact study is part of the 2022-27 Bond Program Floyd Curl Drive project, which stretches from Huebner Road to Charles Katz Drive. The project will construct roadway improvements, such as driveway approaches, curbs and drainage.
In light of the project, the San Antonio Medical Foundation requested the study in anticipation of a future 1.4 million-square-foot Veterans Administration Hospital that will be built at the intersection. According to city documents, the study was also conducted to determine what improvements should be considered in the South Texas Medical Center area to account for increased traffic due to new developments.
Funds for the study were taken from the $12 million project budget. As part of the agreement, the San Antonio Medical Foundation agreed to pay for 50% of the study, which amounts to no more than $77,876.02.
The traffic impact study began in September 2024. Presentations on the results of the study were made in March 2025 to the Medical Center Alliance and the Medical Center Foundation. The final report is expected to be complete in June 2025.
