On Feb. 11, the San Antonio International Airport launched its new SAT Pass program, which allows a limited number of non-ticketed visitors to welcome travelers post-security.

What you need to know

According to a news release, the SAT pass allows visitors who do not have tickets to meet guests at their gates or in the terminal. Up to 50 non-ticketed visitors will be approved daily.

Residents can apply online through a contact form the day of their visit or up to seven days in advance. If approved, a QR code will be sent via email, which will allow access through the TSA security checkpoint.

SAT Pass details:
  • Applicants will be unable to apply for days that have been fully booked
  • Applicants must provide their full legal name as it appears on their passport or driver’s license, date of birth and sex
  • Applicants will receive a confirmation email after applying
  • If applying in advance, the applicant will receive an email with approval status after midnight on the day of the visit
  • When passing through security be sure open the SAT pass attachment and have a TSA-approved photo ID
  • SAT Pass is only valid on the approved start time through 9 p.m.
