As part of the 2022-2027 Bond roadway projects, improvements are set for Classen Road in San Antonio. Crews will replace existing pavement that has deteriorated over time and add drainage improvements.

The details

According to city documents, the project consists of multiple improvements set to address wear and tear on the existing roadway, a lack of curbs and drainage issues near an existing low water crossing. The project will reconstruct over a mile of roadway.

Construction will include two 12- or 13-foot lanes, two curbs and two shoulders ranging up to 28 feet wide. The project will run along approximately a mile of Classen Road ,from Classen Spur to Knollcreek Drive.

Proposed improvements include:
  • Adding sidewalks
  • Adding curbs
  • Improving and adding driveway approaches
  • Adding bicycle facilities
  • Constructing a multi-box drainage culvert
  • Constructing an underground drainage system


The project is currently in design phase, with construction estimated to begin in winter 2026 and complete by summer 2027.
