In a continuation of Kentwood Phase 1, San Antonio city officials are installing a series of drainage outlets and pipes throughout the Oakhaven area.

The overview

Known as Kentwood Phase 2, the multi-phase project is designed to address flooding in the surrounding neighborhood. According to city documents, Phase 2 of the project includes full street reconstruction on affected roadways and will add flush header curbs to protect the streets from water flowing over the road, while maintaining the existing street width.

To improve drainage, the city will also install an inverted crown with an underground storm drain system that will catch water in the middle of the street.

Drainage improvements include:
  • A storm grate inlet
  • A storm drain box
  • A storm drain lateral pipe
  • Storm drain/manhole
  • An improved roadway base
Currently in the design phase, construction is estimated to begin in summer 2025 and to be completed by summer 2027.
