Work crews overseeing the Loop 1604 expansion project will close portions of the I-10/Loop 1604 interchange in North San Antonio during the weekend of June 14-17.

What you need to know

According to Texas Department of Transportation officials, the following segments of I-10/Loop 1604 interchange will be closed from 9 p.m. June 14 through 5 a.m. June 17:
  • I-10 westbound and eastbound main lanes at the Loop 1604 interchange
  • Loop 1604 westbound and eastbound frontage roads at the I-10 interchange
  • Cloverleafs from I-10 westbound to Loop 1604 westbound, Loop 1604 eastbound to I-10 westbound, and I-10 eastbound to Loop 1604 eastbound
TxDOT officials said these closures will allow the project contractor to continue construction on flyover ramps, which will be part of the new direct interchange.

The outlook

TxDOT officials said local law enforcement personnel will direct traffic through area intersections, including the intersection of I-10 and La Cantera Parkway, during this weekend’s closures.

However, access to businesses immediately surrounding the interchange will remain open, TxDOT representatives said.

Additional closures will continue at the Loop 1604/I-10 interchange to permit work crews to install steel beams for the ongoing construction of the flyover ramps.

Other long-term and nightly closures along the Loop 1604 project corridor eastward from I-10 through US 281 remain in effect.
