Work crews overseeing the expansion of Loop 1604 across North San Antonio will completely close a segment of the freeway over the first weekend of March.

Work crews will fully close the westbound Loop 1604 main lanes from the Blanco Road exit ramp to the Bitters Road entrance ramp, and the eastbound Loop 1604 main lanes from the Bitters Road exit ramp to the Stone Oak Parkway entry ramp 9 a.m. March 1 through 5 a.m. March 4.

Additionally, project contractors will close the main Loop 1604 lanes, in both directions, at the I-10 interchange and the Loop 1604 westbound cloverleaf ramp at eastbound I-10 during the same time period.

Texas Department of Transportation officials said various detours will be provided for motorists traveling the area over the weekend.

According TxDOT, the yearslong expansion of Loop 1604 from Bandera Road to I-35 will include the addition of six lanes, including one high-occupancy vehicle lane in each direction, as well as revamped intersections at Blanco Road and at I-10, and accommodations for bicyclists and pedestrians.
