Three major closures occurring 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily through Oct. 28 are affecting traffic along a segment of Loop 1604 in north San Antonio as part of the Loop 1604 expansion project.
The background
According to a Texas Department of Transportation news release, daily closure of westbound Loop 1604 from Lockhill Selma to I-10 is allowing contractors to set overhangs and ready the deck for a new westbound direct connector. The I-10/Loop 1604 interchange is being reconfigured.
Additionally, westbound main lanes between the Blanco Road exit ramp and the Northwest Military Highway entrance ramp are closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, Oct. 25-28.
The eastbound main lanes between the Bitters Road exit ramp and the Blanco Road entry ramp are also closed at the same times and nights.
Digging deeper
Westbound main lane travelers will exit via the Lockhill Selma exit ramp, according to the TxDOT release. Traffic will continue on the westbound frontage road through the Lockhill Selma, Vance Jackson Road and I-10 intersections, and may re-enter the westbound main lanes through the entrance ramp west of I-10.
All westbound traffic will exit at the Blanco Road exit ramp and continue on the westbound frontage road. Traffic may re-enter the Loop 1604 WB main lanes at the Northwest Military entrance ramp.
All eastbound traffic will exit at the Bitters Road exit ramp and continue on the eastbound frontage road. Traffic may re-enter the Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes at the Blanco entrance ramp.
