Texas Department of Transportation is closing all main lanes of westbound Loop 1604 between Blanco Road and Northwest Military Highway each weeknight through Oct. 28.

TxDOT representatives said the closures happening 11 p.m.-5. a.m. Sundays through Thursdays are necessary because of excavation work that is required for the ongoing widening of Loop 1604 across north San Antonio.

The westbound closures began the evening of Oct. 2, TxDOT said.

According to TxDOT, westbound traffic is being directed to detour off main lanes onto the frontage road during the closures.

TxDOT representatives said there will also be additional, short-term rolling closures affecting eastbound main lanes and frontage roads and the westbound frontage road between Northwest Military and Huebner Road, and the northbound and southbound Bitters Road traffic at the Loop 1604 intersection.
