St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Jan. 3 officially opened a new on-site bookstore to the public.
A news release said hours of operation are 1:30-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 8:30-11:15 a.m. Sundays.
The release said the new bookstore offers a variety of books covering spiritual, psychological, social and literary interests, including social justice, women’s voices, poetry, Celtic theology, aging, grief, prayer and children’s classics.
The store also provides fiction and Episcopal resources, such as prayer books, hymnals and Bibles, and gifts, the release said.
One of the store’s categories, Banned Books, is spotlighted in an exhibit of large photos showing St. Mark’s parishioners and clergy holding their favorite banned book.
A smaller shop at St. Mark’s that opened in 2009 as a ministry encourages readers to engage with spiritual guides of solid scholarship.
