Officials with local nonprofit San Antonio Sports said they are offering Activate, a holistic program designed to help people build healthy habits toward improving their physical and mental well-being.

What’s happening

Representatives with San Antonio Sports on July 8 said the Activate program, which launched this spring, is comprised of four sessions, each ending in a 5K. Free daily fitness classes are scheduled throughout the city at nine locations.

The program promotes a healthy lifestyle by encouraging people to be active, exercise often and choose healthy habits, a news release stated.

Daily free fitness classes include BodyCombat, cardio toning, step classes, yoga and Zumba. Virtual programming options include Strong Nation, CIRCL Mobility, Zumba and total body conditioning, according to the release.

The program also includes yoga pop-ups that are free to attend and do not require registration.

Diving in deeper

Additionally, Activate offers mental wellness sessions and cooking demonstrations through a partnership with online mental performance gym Train the Mind and the nonprofit San Antonio Food Bank, respectively.

Participants are invited to go at their own pace, and can earn points toward T-shirts, gift cards and a cash prize drawing by attending classes, mental wellness and cooking sessions; completing health screenings; and taking part in the 5K at session's end.
