The overview
The ordinance set the date for the general election for 10 City Council seats and the position of mayor.
For names to be placed on the ballot, candidates must file by mail or in person with the office of city clerk no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 14.
According to city documents, polls on election day will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. May 3. Residents can vote at any Bexar County polling location.
Voting will be conducted through electronic voting devices that are in compliance with Texas’ Help America Vote Act. Early voting will be held from April 22-29.
To vote by mail, voters should send their ballots to the Bexar County Elections Administrator, Early Voting Clerk at 1103 S. Frio St., Ste. 200, San Antonio.
General election schedule:
- 5 p.m. Feb. 14, deadline to apply for a place on the ballot
- 8 a.m. Feb. 24, drawing for order of place on the ballot
- 5 p.m. April 3, deadline to register with Bexar County to vote in the general election
- April 22, early voting begins
- 5 p.m. April 22, deadline for Bexar County to receive an application for vote by mail ballot
- April 29, last day of early voting by personal appearance
- 7 a.m.-7 p.m. May 3, election day
Additionally, the resolution authorized the Bexar County Elections Department to conduct, supervise and administer the election.
Bexar County Elections Department services include:
- Procurement and distribution of election supplies, including printing and distribution of ballots for mail-in balloting
- Hire, train and pay election judges, clerks and other election personnel
- Secure early voting and election day polling sites
- Conduct early voting in person and by mail
- Conduct election day voting
- Tabulate election returns
- Conduct election services for runoff if necessary
