The City Councils of Hollywood Park, Shavano Park and Hill Country Village will meet to discuss fiscal year 2024-25 budgets.
In a nutshell
Once the budgets are approved, they will be adopted for the upcoming fiscal year.
- Hollywood Park will meet Sept. 9 to discuss the budget ahead of adoption.
- Hill Country Village will meet Aug. 28 for a public hearing of its budget.
- Shavano Park will meet Sept. 9 to discuss the budget and will adopt it during the Sept. 16 meeting.
According to Hollywood Park city documents, the city’s proposed budget includes a general fund of approximately $9.151 million, a special revenue fund of $3.653 million and an economic development corporation fund of $228,000, totaling approximately $13.033 million. The city is also proposing a tax rate of $0.4617 per $100.
Hollywood Park’s FY 2024-25 budget is expected to raise an additional $182,360, or 5.27%, in total property taxes, with $9,269 raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
According to Shavano Park city documents, the city budgeted to raise 4.76% more revenue from property taxes over the FY 2023-24 budget. The proposed FY 2024-25 tax rate is $0.312742 per $100 valuation. City Manager Bill Hill said the proposed 1/2-cent increase over last year's rate is due to paying off debts associated with the voter-approved $10 million May 2022 bond election.
The budget also includes funds for up to six city sponsored events. Hill said the budget has no outstanding issues and the city is on track for a balanced budget.
