For the fiscal year 2024-25 city of San Antonio budget, property tax rates are proposed to stay at the same rate as FY 2023-24, at a total of $0.54159 per $100 valuation.

The details

City Council on Aug. 15 voted to set the proposed tax rate, which will support a $3.96 billion budget designed to support city services.

Public safety makes up approximately 61.6% of the general fund, totaling around $1 billion, according to an Aug. 15 news release.

Funding in the budget is also planned to address homelessness, invest in animal care, and maintain and repair streets and sidewalks.

“This proposed budget continues our established multiyear plans,” Mayor Ron Nirenberg said in the release. “The proposed budget boosts investment in street maintenance, adds Animal Care Services positions to address critical calls and operate new clinics, continues investments in affordable housing and homeless services, and adds police officers and firefighters. Kudos to [City Manager Erik Walsh] and his entire team for their hard work in crafting a budget that reflects the priorities of the community and City Council.”
