Local officials said the series of meetings are designed to discuss the budgeting process ahead. City staff and City Council members will convene several times in public in August to build a proposed 2024-25 operating budget.
Local officials will also use the meetings to get feedback from residents and answer questions about budgeting matters, including how the budget supports basic operations such as public safety, infrastructure, animal control, and parks and recreation.
City Council is expected to adopt a new budget and set the property tax rate in September in time for the start of the Fiscal Year 2024-25, which begins Oct. 1.
The current adopted Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget totals $3.7 billion for daily operations, special capital projects and other initiatives.

The remaining meetings are as scheduled:
- Aug. 26, 6:30 p.m., Northeast Senior Center, 4135 Thousand Oaks Drive, and Normoyle Community Center, 700 Culberson Ave.
- Aug. 28, 6:30 p.m., Cuellar Community Center, 5626 San Fernando St., and Garza Community Center, 1450 Mira Vista.
- Aug. 29, 6:30 p.m., Southside Lions Senior Center, 3303 Pecan Valley Drive, and Hardberger Park Urban Ecology Center, 8400 NW Military Hwy.
