San Antonio Parks and Recreation officials on June 10 said they will open 24 outdoor pools beginning June 15. The city’s public pool season will end in mid-August.

What you need to know

According to a news release, all outdoor city pools are free and open to the public. Pool hours will be extended by one hour each day and provide earlier swim times at select pool locations.

All pools will be open six days a week, including weekends, with a closure day that varies location to location.

Free outdoor aquatics programming includes Wibit inflatable obstacle courses, Movies in the Pool screenings, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, group swim lessons and aqua fitness classes.


Also of note

City representatives said 11 pools opened ahead of pool season on May 11 with weekend hours. Select extended-season pools will remain open into September.

However, the San Antonio Natatorium, a public indoor pool facility, will be closed for renovations this summer.

Additionally, the city is partnering with local organizations to offer free community swim days at the following locations:
  • North East ISD Sports Park Pool, 12001 Wetmore Road, San Antonio
  • Thousand Oaks Family YMCA, 16103 Henderson Pass, San Antonio
  • Southwest ISD Aquatic Center, 9290 S. Loop 410 W., San Antonio
  • YWCA, 503 Castroville Road, San Antonio
