San Antonio officials have closed part of the Phil Hardberger Park land bridge for repairs through April 22.

The background

According to representatives with San Antonio Department of Parks and Recreation, the closures that began at the north central park on March 18 will allow city personnel to fix and improve various segments of the pedestrian land bridge trails, which link the northern and southern portions of the park.

The land bridge connects the two halves of Hardberger Park, which is divided by Wurzbach Parkway.

City officials said, as of March 25, pedestrians in Hardberger Park may access the land bridge one of two ways—the artificial skywalk in the Blanco Road, or northern, half; or the natural, earthened entry in the Northwest Military Highway, or southern, portion of the park.

All trail repairs are estimated to cost $430,000, parks and recreation department representatives said.
