Charitable events, an outdoor movie screening, the beginning of a film festival, and a salute to the cowboy way of life are among events scheduled around San Antonio between July 25 and 31.

Evenings at Topaz

La Cantera Resort and Spa will present Evenings at Topaz, a series of themed sunset poolside events benefiting local charities. The July program will benefit the San Pedro Playhouse/Public Theater of San Antonio. The event will include music, small bites and summer-inspired cocktails. The event is open and free to resort guests and to community members.

“Lights, Camera, Fashion Show and Luncheon" is the culmination of Lights Camera Fashion week, a five-day program for Eva's Heroes participants who learn from fashion pros how to put their best foot forward on the catwalk. Eva’s Heroes is a local nonprofit that supports individuals ages 14-older with special needs. The fashion week events are designed to help participants to build confidence and develop individual style.

Free admission day in the garden


San Antonio Botanical Garden will provide free admission all day for all visitors. In addition, the garden is hosting "Dog Daze" for the months of July and August, inviting leashed dogs to enjoy the surroundings at no cost from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Nature walk

The Briscoe Western Art Museum will celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy with various activities for the whole family, including a showcase of cowboy life, skills and art alongside live music, games, crafts and a chuckwagon with treats.San Antonio Film Festival

The 30th San Antonio Film Festival will include screenings of more than 200 feature, documentary, short and animated films. There will also be nightly after-parties, live performances and interactive experiences.

The city of San Antonio will host a free screening of the Tom Hanks movie “Big.” Kids’ activities and food trucks will also be offered onsite.
