Charter Review Commission meeting

San Antonio residents will be invited to a final in-person public comment opportunity with the city’s Charter Review Commission. The commission has spent the last two months gathering input on issues, such as an independent ethics officer and review board, City Council compensation and term length, city manager tenure and compensation, council districts and redistricting, and language updates to reflect current laws and processes. Council will review the commission’s findings and recommendations, and decide whether to call a special charter amendment election.La Semana Alegre

La Semana Alegre, a local spring music festival, returns with scheduled performances by local and nationally renowned bands, such as Toadies, Legs Diamond, Girl in a Coma and Grupo Metal. There will also be food and drinks. Proceeds will benefit further redevelopment and programming at Hemisfair, the event site.

Fredstock

San Antonio College’s music business program will present Fredstock, a Fiesta block party-style music festival, with performances by several local musical acts. There will also be vendors, beverages and food trucks.Battle of Flowers Parade


The founding event for Fiesta, the Battle of Flowers Parade will include more than 10,000 participants, including dozens of high school bands from across the nation, mariachi bands, multiple horse cavalcades, and more.

Starfish Dash 5K Run/Walk

Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society, a San Antonio nonprofit, will present the Starfish Dash 5K Run/Walk, a Fiesta event. The event will include music, free coffee and doughnuts, a kids race, cosplayers, health and wellness testing, and more. The presenting organization supports research into Chromosome 18 conditions, which feature genetic abnormalities that lead to special-needs children being born with physical issues, such as difficulty hearing, walking, learning disabilities or autism.Pooch Parade
