The Alamo Heights region will be hosting two major holiday season events the Saturday before Thanksgiving Day.

Alamo Heights Chamber of Commerce will hold its 43rd annual holiday parade on Nov. 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Alamo Heights High School, 6900 Broadway.

The parade usually includes local schools, businesses and organizations, Alamo Heights city officials said.

The parade will end at the Alamo Heights swimming pool, located at 250 Viesca Ave., where there will be food, music and children’s activities.

Admission to the parade and the post-parade festivities is free.

University of the Incarnate Word will host its 35th annual Light the Way celebration from 3 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at 4301 Broadway St., San Antonio.

The festival includes a marketplace of vendors and artisans focused on holiday items. There will also be a chance to meet Santa Claus, hear live music, visit food trucks and partake in children’s activities.

The event concludes with a fireworks display and the illumination of more than 1 million holiday lights across the campus.

Admission is free. Free parking is available in the Ancira Parking Garage off U.S. 281 and Hildebrand Avenue, and Founders Hall at 4119 Broadway on a first-come, first-served basis.

The holiday lights will stay lit each night through Jan. 6, and free for people see after the kick-off event.
