Local nonprofit DisabilitySA will co-present a free COVID-19 vaccine drive, with first and second doses of the Moderna/Pfizer vaccines offered to individuals as young as 3 years old. Balcones Heights Jazz Festival kicks off its 28th season with performances scheduled for the evenings of July 15 and 29. Rob Zinn and Jeff Ryan headline the July 15 concert with Tony Saunders opening. On July 29, Peter White will be the headliner with Johnny P and the Wiseguys opening. Parking is free; attendees may buy refreshments on site and bring their lawn chair or blanket. 7:30 p.m. each night. Free. San Antonio French Festival, a celebration of Bastille Day in France, will be held at The Shops at La Cantera’s Main Street. The festival will feature a petanque and bocci tournament involving 16 teams from around Texas. Enjoy $5 beer and wine and $5 small bites presented by San Antonio French cuisine vendors. Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy presents “Growing Up Wild” lessons in the park’s Salado Outdoor Classroom for adults and their children ages 3-7. Learn about the importance of grass, varieties of grass, grass seeds and grasshoppers. The lesson is followed by nature walk and a hands-on craft session.
