There will be three contested North San Antonio City Council seats and a contested mayoral race on the May 3 ballot, based on candidacy filings submitted by the Feb. 14 deadline.

As Mayor Ron Nirenberg finishes his final term as mayor, 27 candidates have filed with the city to run as mayor. For the City Council seats, there are six candidates for District 8, seven candidates for District 9 and five candidates for District 10.

After the passage of Proposition F in 2024, council members and the mayor serve two four-year terms and run for election every four years. Elections are held in odd-numbered years.
