Additionally, the budget is designed to prioritize the sustainability of core services, student-focused strategies and retention of high quality staff.

Core services include:

  • Student services
  • Academic support
  • College and ACCESS departmental expenses
  • Fringe benefits and enterprise-wide costs

What else?

ACD is investing in two new programs: the School of Nursing centered at San Antonio College and the School of Emerging Technologies centered at Northwest Vista College.

With a goal of graduating over 1,600 students annually by 2028, the School of Nursing seeks to address healthcare needs and staffing shortages in the South and Central Texas region. At the School of Emerging Technologies, students will train for careers, such as data analytics and information technology and management.

ACD has also invested $20 million in talent strategies, which begins on Sept. 1. This investment is a 3% market rate increase and tuition reimbursement increase. Another three schools are planned to start in fall 2026.

As further strategic investment, ACD is investing in partnerships aimed at widening access for dual credit courses for local high school students. Currently, the program has 16,600 enrolled students.
