During the Jan. 13 Northeast ISD board of trustees meeting, district officials presented the Texas Accountability and Performance Report and Scorecard Update.

What you need to know

The report included multiple updates about the district, including the 2023-24 Texas Academic Performance Report, student attendance of postsecondary institutions, the graduation rate and a report on the violent or criminal incidents on campuses.

Merriman BranDe, director of performance and accountability, said the report details information from previous years and does not include the 2024-25 school year.

According to district documents, the 2023-24 performance scores for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, in 2023 and 2024 showed that the district performed better than the state.
BranDe also discussed the percentages of students who attended in-state higher education institutions. For 2022, approximately 51% of students attended in-state schools, and 55.2% attended in-state universities in 2023. She also noted that the district does not receive data on students who decide to attend school out of state.
District documents show that after a decline in graduations from 2020-22, the district’s rates have plateaued.

“The graduation rate is very difficult to predict [because it is] based on a [multitude of factors],” BranDe said.
