Silver Eagle Beverages announced Aug. 8 it awarded $225,000 in scholarships to 45 South Texas college students, including 31 from San Antonio.

The Silver Eagle Beverages Scholarship program awards up to a total of $5,000 per academic year to dependent children of Silver Eagle Beverages employees, a news release states.

The scholarship program was started by the company more than 20 years ago and has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships to date.

The recipients were recently recognized by Silver Eagle Chair and CEO John Nau III at an award ceremony at the company’s San Antonio office.

“The Silver Eagle Beverages Scholarship program is a wonderful way in which we are able to give back and show support for our employees, their families, and future generations of thinkers," Nau said in a statement.
