Officials with Austin-based classical charter school Valor Education announced on Jan. 23 the opening of the first San Antonio campus on the northwest side at a 10-acre property with a 93,000-square-foot building at 4300 Centerview Drive.

A news release said Valor San Antonio is an expansion of the Valor Education school district, with three charter classical schools in Austin, each fully enrolled with waitlists.

Valor San Antonio is tuition-free and is now accepting applications for enrollment for the 2023-24 school year, the release added.

Valor Education Superintendent Stephen Gordon said his organization’s leadership team has strong ties to San Antonio, and Valor is to be a part of a community that embraces the traditions and ambitions associated with Valor’s mission.

“We want children to live the fullest life possible, directed by wisdom, animated by wonder and anchored in friendship,” Gordon said in a statement.

The release said Valor’s faculty share a deep unity and collaborative spirit, positive attitude, love of learning, strong work ethic, and commitment to the growth of students.

The release also said Valor offers a robust student life experience, including extracurricular clubs, student mentoring, and service and leadership opportunities. Additionally, Valor’s competitive athletic programs help educate the whole person by developing virtues, such as courage, sportsmanship and perseverance, according to the release.

Valor San Antonio Headmaster Mark Discher was educated at the University of Oxford and Yale University, the release said.

“We see parents as the primary educators of their children. We look forward to partnering with parents and coming alongside our students to help them reach their full potential,” Discher said in a statement.
