Leaders from Northside ISD, and friends and family of the late NISD alum and official Kevin Hamilton gathered Jan. 9 at Clark High School to formally dedicate the campus gym after Hamilton.
Ceremony attendees said naming Clark’s athletic facility Kevin Hamilton Gym would be representative of their admiration of Hamilton and his love for the school district.
Hamilton was a product of Northside ISD schools, having attended Colonies North Elementary School and Hobby Middle School, and he was in the first graduating class of Clark High School.
After graduating from college, Hamilton served as a coach and teacher at Clark and then became an assistant athletic director for NISD.
Hamilton retired after 34 years at NISD. He died April 19, 2022, following a battle with cancer.
The naming of the Clark gym after Hamilton included the unveiling of his name and signature on the gym floor.
“Kevin Hamilton had a servant heart and would do anything to support NISD students and staff. His impact on the lives of thousands of student [athletes] and coaches is immeasurable, and now with the naming of this gym in his honor, his legacy lives on,” Superintendent Brian Woods said in a statement.
