The Texas School Counselor Association recognized 36 Northside ISD schools with 2022-23 Awards for Counseling Excellence in December.
The Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students Award was bestowed upon Beard, Behlau, Boldt, Boone, Cole, Colonies North, Carlos Coon, Glass, Fisher, Hoffmann, Kallison, Leon Valley, Locke Hill, Los Reyes, May, Meadow Village, Mireles, Mora, Passmore, Powell, Wanke, Ward and Westwood Terrace elementary schools; Connally, Folks, Hector Garcia, Rawlinson, Ross, Straus, and Vale middle schools; and Harlan, Health Careers, Holmes/NSITE, Marshall, O’Connor and Taft high schools, a news release said.
The release said schools receiving the CREST Award have demonstrated a commitment using the school guidance and counseling program to improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career and social domains.
NISD Guidance and Counseling Director Mary Libby said 36 Northside ISD schools across all levels receiving the CREST award is a testament to the work that NISD school counselors do on behalf of students, their campuses and the community.
“These recognized campuses highlight the counselor's role in the academic, personal/social, and career development of all students,” Libby said in the release.
