All San Antonio Public Library cardholders now have access to streaming videos through Kanopy, a streaming service that features more than 250 curated films and documentaries.

According to a news release, SAPL cardholders also now have access to Kanopy Kids, a platform of curated video content designed to support early literacy and critical thinking.

“Digital library materials have become increasingly popular, and this trend accelerated during the pandemic,” SAPL Director Ramiro Salazar said in a statement.

The release said Kanopy is available on a wide variety of platforms, including desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, smart TVs and streaming devices.

To start using Kanopy, SAPL users will need to input their library card number on the Kanopy website or in the Kanopy app and create a free account. After this initial signup, users will only need their personal login to access streaming video through Kanopy.

SAPL’s subscription also includes unlimited access to Kanopy Kids, a carefully curated collection of children’s programming that supports early literacy, STEM education and foreign language learning, the release said.

Families will recognize favorite children’s characters from "Sesame Street," PBS Kids, Weston Woods and more, the release said.
