McDonald's celebrates grand opening near Fair Oaks Ranch

The golden arches have popped up near Fair Oaks Parkway, marking the opening of a new McDonald’s location.

The details

The global fast-food chain offers a selection of burgers, sandwiches and other menu staples. This is the second location near Fair Oaks Ranch, with another off I-10 near Ralph Fair Road and Leon Valley.

After closing earlier this year for a renovation project, this restaurant has reopened its doors on San Antonio’s northwest side.

Another dual-branded Applebee’s and IHOP recently opened at 9911 I-10, in San Antonio, near Wurzbach Road.

Restaurant staff told Community Impact the eatery officially opened Oct. 27.

Originally a single IHOP, the restaurant is one of several throughout the area to close and reopen as the dual-branded concept.

Youz Guyz cheesesteak restaurant closes in Universal City


A Universal City restaurant serving Philadelphia cheesesteaks has closed its doors.

What you need to know

Owned by Jimmy and Kathy De Laurentis since 2007, Youz Guyz South Philly Cheesesteaks closed its doors at 316 Pat Booker Road on Dec. 6. The couple had been considering retirement for several years, City Manager Kim Turner told Community Impact.

Along with its cheesesteak and pizza steak sandwiches, Youz Guyz also served hoagie sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken fingers and Philly soft pretzels, according to an online menu.

Frosted Jack Christmas Tavern offering cocktails and more in downtown Boerne

This new holiday pop-up shop and beverage spot in downtown Boerne has opened for the season right on the Hill Country Mile.

Breaking it down


Led by the local establishment Camp Bar & Feed, the Frosted Jack Christmas Tavern officially opened for the holiday season Nov. 28, the business announced on Instagram.

It’s located at 421 S. Main St., next to Hamby’s and Bear Moon Bakery and Cafe.

The pop-up is offering cocktails, mocktails and more holiday beverages, according to its Instagram page.

All-you-can-eat sushi restaurant opens in New Braunfels

A new Japanese restaurant has opened in New Braunfels, bringing residents all-you-can-eat sushi.

In case you missed it

Yasaka Sushi & Ramen opened Dec. 1 at 1348 I-35 N., New Braunfels, next to Olive Garden.

The building previously housed a Denny’s restaurant, which closed in 2024, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.

On the menu

Offering mainly Japanese cuisine, Yasaka Sushi & Ramen serves all-you-can-eat plates of specialty sushi rolls and bowls of flavored ramen. The restaurant also offers appetizers such as egg rolls and a wide selection of hibachi and tempura options.
