Taco Palenque recently opened the doors to a new restaurant in Hill Country Village. Employees there celebrated the occasion by providing free pirata tacos, which are flour tortillas filled with refried beans, shredded cheddar cheese, carne asada and the diner's salsa of choice.

The background

The Laredo, Texas-based chain has more than 30 eateries in Texas and northeast Mexico, offering traditional Mexican cuisine with tacos, quesadillas, enchalada plates, parrilladas, antojitos, bowls, salads and soups.

A closer look

The Hill Country Village location is Taco Palenque’s 11th storefront in the San Antonio/New Braunfels area. The company TPA Real Estate in 2023 applied for a permit on Taco Palenque’s behalf to renovate what was previously a Wendy’s restaurant.

Restaurant company representatives said there are no plans to add a drive-thru at the Hill Country Village location.
