Postino Wine Café, a chain of wine-focused restaurants, made its San Antonio debut in The Rim with a June 26 grand opening at 17627 La Cantera Parkway, Ste. 103.

Company representatives said Postino is designed as an eclectic, all-day hangout featuring shareable dishes and curated wine offerings.

“We are thrilled to bring Postino Wine Café to vibrant San Antonio and to be a part of The Rim’s world-class retail and entertainment,” Postino co-founder Lauren Bailey said in a statement. “We can’t wait to provide a feel-good, welcoming environment to the community.”

The original Postino opened in a restored former 1940s-era Phoenix post office. As Postino grew more popular, other locations opened up with each site featuring art and nostalgia reflecting that location’s neighborhood.

Postino at The Rim has a wall incorporating original HemisFair posters and amusement park nostalgia, a nod to the 1968 World’s Fair held in San Antonio, company representatives said. Additionally, the new local Postino features midcentury modern furniture sourced from San Antonio store Period Modern along with classic amusement park rocket ship panels sourced from Round Top’s antique stores.

The food menu at Postino features shareable charcuterie imported directly from Italy, a rotating selection of cheese and locally sourced vegetable boards, meatballs with goat cheese, salads, hand-pressed panini on artisan bread, and salad and soup combinations, among other dishes.

Curated by Brent Karlicek, an advanced sommelier and Postino’s vice president of beverage, the bar program features specials such as 40-plus wines for $6 a glass and more than 30 craft beer selections.

Postino also has happy hour until 5 p.m. daily and a weekend brunch available from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., featuring signature cocktails alongside breakfast dishes such as the ricotta fritters.

To give back to the community, company representatives said Postino is spending its first month of operation in San Antonio pledging $1 from the sale of bruschetta boards to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Postino has more than 20 locations in five states. The hours of operation are Mondays-Thursdays from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m.-noon, Saturdays from 9 a.m.-midnight and Sundays from 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
